- RALS (a mobile/remote access service) was introduced into Clinical Development
Division, which allowed access to LAN from each monitor terminal under
a new strict security system (First system built by NTT in Japan).

- Biosupport. Inc. (Redmond, Washington, U.S.A.) was acquired.
- SNBL U.S.A., Ltd. was moved to Everett, Washington and Safety Research
Facility was constructed at the site.
